The Specially Equipped Vehicle business unit has an 8-bay prototype shop co-located with Systems Engineering and the Project Manager pool. The shop personnel can be augmented by production personnel when necessary. The SEV kit and shelter portion of the Medium Support Vehicle System has approximately 1,000 shelters in 70 different varieties in approximately 6 main categories, including command posts, offices and repair shops. Based upon our previous experience of the SEV development process, taking into account 6 months calendar time and 3 months floor time, DEW could simultaneously program manage, from design concept through to production ready Risk Reduction Units, approximately 16 SEV kits at a time and complete all 70 varieties in approximately 2 years. |
