Dew ValetTM Baggage Lift
The Dew ValetTM is a baggage elevating
system installed on a bridge or fixed walkway used for gate-checked
luggage that is too large to fit in aircraft overhead bins or to
facilitate transfer of strollers and mobility devices between the
bridge and the ramp.
In the past, regional aircraft were often boarded
without boarding bridges and passengers were offered the convenience
of plane-side, gate-checked baggage. The Dew ValetTM
was developed to facilitate plane-side baggage handling when a boarding
bridge is used.
While offering convenience to passengers who place
their luggage in a cart that is elevated to bridge level, the Dew
ValetTM is particularly advantageous for airline ramp
personnel. The heavy lifting is performed by the elevating device
and the luggage is transported to the aircraft on conventional carts.
This system is available in bridge-mounted and apron-mounted configurations. All units are available with Dew ValetTM baggage carts.
The Dew ValetTM bridge-mounted unit is an elevating device for lifting and lowering plane-side luggage between the apron and the inside of passenger loading bridges. Passengers may deposit and retrieve their luggage, assisted or unassisted, from within the safety of the boarding bridge.
Operation of the system is performed from a pushbutton station located on the exterior base of the unit. From this position the operator can view any obstructions or hazards. Access from inside the bridge is only granted once the baggage enclosure has been raised into position, making the system safe for passengers while meeting security requirements.
The Dew ValetTM apron-mounted unit is used for terminal sill heights of up to twelve inches. It uses a tunnel interface between the terminal building and the rotunda. This tunnel contains an apron-level compartment into which a baggage cart can be pushed. Passengers can then access plane-side luggage via an interior rollup door.
The simplicity of use makes the Dew ValetTM baggage system the ideal solution for passenger boarding bridge plane-side luggage handling. |
